21st century metal craftsman

It’s exciting for us to see the different technologies available for cutting metal: plasma, laser, or water depending on what we need and what our design is.  This is a plasma machine in Kenmore cutting 1/4″ steel run by very helpful guys that are friendly and free with information, very reasonably priced and interested in supporting our explorative design process.  It’s controlled by a CNC process reading the CAD files of our design, and we’re planning to use this in a very layered process that combines cutouts, engraving, and acid treatment to bring out the rust and leave it exposed.  I can’t wait to use local guys to help with our art for a building located in the historic nucleus of what I’m calling my #hearttown (instead of hometown) of Akron!
