learning in the field

Our design team took a field trip today to a local metal sculptor’s studio, where we saw some pretty amazing work.  An old industrial complex has been re-purposed as office buildings, housing a variety of businesses including Michael Marras’ work space.  He showed us the building, his work, his process, upcoming projects, and then even let us do some welding!  Josh had the best technique, but we all had fun and learned through hands-on experience how hard it is to get a good puddle.

This is the kind of research that’s critical for a modern design firm … our firm’s focus is on collaborating with artists, building communities, environmental design that goes beyond sustainability, and re-imagining obsolete buildings & properties.

Stay tuned & check back often for future adventures …
